CABOOSE 1520 Built in 1921 by the "Santa Fe"and American Car and Foundry Company. One of a series of twelve. A community drive fund to purchase a caboose began in early 1983. Merchants, civic groups, and people of Temecula donated $5,000,00. On September 13, 1983, through efforts by George Buhler, the caboose was donated by Larry Cena of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. Resulting in the drive fund being used for restoration. The caboose is located on the former "right-of-way" of the California Southern Railway. Being demolished in 1935. |
