PLAQUE TEXT:
PUJOL SCHOOLHOUSE
Opened in 1889 on a site donated by Mercedes Pujol in what would, much later, become Sam Hicks Monument Park. Eventually, it was moved, with the use of mules and horses, to 4th St. where it was converted into a church. From 1922-1982, Mrs. Frieda Knott held Sunday School services there. For years it was known as Mrs. Knott's church. It was moved again in 1986 to its present site.
